Seniors - Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer aged care services?
Unfortunately no. We are purely an independent living facility and are unable to offer extra services to care for seniors who may need assistance. A call to COTA - 6282 3777 - or an enquiry via their contact form may assist in finding accommodation that better suit your needs.
Are the rooms furnished?
Single rooms each have a single bed, desk, cupboard, and basin. They are basic but can be made nice and comfy.
Are bathrooms private or shared?
Bathrooms are shared. Each floor has a number of bathrooms close to the rooms. We regularly clean and stock them so that is one less thing to worry about.
Is there a lift?
Yes, each tower has 2 lifts servicing it.
Are there stairs?
There are fire stairs close to the lift providing access in the event of an emergency. However, we’re security conscious here so we make sure only people who stay on a floor can access that floor. That means you can head down the stairs to the ground floor if needed, but can’t go up to your floor as the door will not be accessible from the stairs.
Are any rooms ambulant and/or wheelchair accessible?
There are some rooms with wider doors to allow for better access. We will also be moving to improve access for our seniors as the demand grows. Things like better access in the bathrooms.
Can couples stay?
There are options for double rooms, which have a double bed and separate living area. These rooms tend to be in demand. In addition, we’re looking into rearranging some of the single rooms to allow for double beds. That provides a little more space for couples even in the smaller rooms.
Can residents have visitors?
Yes, visitors are welcome. Simply let reception know so we have a record in the event of an emergency. There are some conditions around visitors staying overnight though so make sure to speak with reception first.
Is there a laundry?
Yes, each floor has a laundry room with a coin-operated washer and dryer. You will need to provide your own detergent and softener.
Is linen supplied?
We generally do not supply linen for our long-stay residents. However if demand grows, we will commence stocking linen linen packs.
Can residents prepare their own meals?
Yes, there is a kitchenette on each floor with basic equipment such as kettle and microwave. In addition, we have a large kitchen facility on the ground floor with options for cooking and food storage.
Is heating included?
Yes, the building has central hydronic heating which switches on when the outside temperature drops below certain temperatures.
Is parking guaranteed?
We do provide our residents with an option to park their car. Conditions do apply though such as evidence the car belongs to you. This is to avoid issues in the past where residents offer their parking spots to friends for convenience or profit. That’s a big no-no.
Are meals or personal support provided?
Generally no, however we will seek to engage with certain groups who may provide food on a regular basis. Watch this space.
What happens in an emergency?
The building has a sophisticated fire alarm so anything that triggers an alarm will also immediately notify the fire brigade. They will come to assess the threat. In addition, staff is trained to respond to emergencies. In the event of an emergency that requires evacuation, staff will knock on your door to notify you and assist where necessary.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not permitted within the building with the exception of accredited assistance animals. It is important to note that emotional support animals are not accredited as assistance animals and are not permitted.
What documents do I need to apply?
We try to keep the process simple, so you really only need ID, evidence of income, and some referees to tell us how great you are.
